Lena™ Nanoceutics is a robust and scalable continuous particle processing technology for rapid small and large scale manufacture of crystalline drug nanosuspensions and redispersable nano-powders. Using patented, high efficiency processing rigs, we are able to rapidly nano-size a wide variety of materials with a broad range of physicochemical properties (inc. brittle and ductile materials), which can be subsequently incorporated into conventional dosage forms, including:

Liquid dose
Our particular focus is manufacture of parenteral formulations, particularly intravenous nano-suspensions for compounds requiring systemic exposures that cannot be achieved by conventional oral dosing. In addition, we can rapidly process materials in suitable media to produce ready to use stable suspensions which are suited for paediatric and geriatric applications.

Solid dose
We have developed a robust and cost efficient process for isolation of nano-particulates in a dry format, which spontaneously re-disperse upon contact with aqueous media. These powders can be conveniently incorporated into standard solid-dosage formulations, including powder in capsule, tablets, granules etc. In addition, the encapsulation matrix offers ideal taste masking opportunities.

Technology Benefits:

• Allows fine control of particle size distribution (from 100 to 300 nm) in aqueous or organic media
• Rapid feasibility assessment; achieve particle size reduction to sub-micron range in periods of < 60 minutes
• Process is independent of the chemistry of the active ingredient. Size reduction can be carried out on materials with diverse physicochemical properties, including brittle / ductile, low melting-point and temperature sensitive compounds
• Crystallinity of the drug is maintained during processing, ensuring physical stability of the final product (i.e. no amorphous content)
• Production of unique formulations with greater batch uniformity and high and consistent quality
• Contamination free
• Speciality rigs to process a variety of volumes (from 15 ml up to 30,000 litres), allowing processing on mg to multi-kg scale
