PhD KESS Award


In conjuction with The Insitute of Life Sciences (ILS) at Swansea University, Kuecept Ltd are pleased to announce the availability of the following 3 year funded PhD program (to start in Oct 2010):

  • 'Development of revised formulations for steroid hormone delivery' - Academic Supervisor: Professor John White, Professor of Reproductive Biology

KESS is a project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), awarded by the Wales European Funding Office (WEFO) in the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG). Overall, the project aims to support research training and higher-level skills development for research students working with companies based in the Convergence areas of Wales. (The Convergence area of Wales covers West Wales and the Valleys, and consists of 15 Local Authorities in Wales – further details below).

KESS funding allows PhD research students to work with companies, under the supervision of a participating University in Wales, on projects that link to business and research needs. There are five stated objectives to the KESS project:

  • To prepare and train individuals to contribute to research as professionals.
  • To increase the research capacity of SMEs (Micro, Small and Medium -sized Enterprises) by linking with a (PhD) project.
  • To encourage SMEs to undertake research and recruit researchers.
  • To support the development of key technologies in the Convergence area.
  • To promote higher-level skills development.

Student eligability:

This research project has funding attached. It is only available to UK citizens or those who have been resident in the UK for a period of 3 years or more. Some projects, which are funded by charities or by the universities themselves may have more stringent restrictions.

Non-UK Students: In most cases if you have the correct qualifications and access to your own funding, either from your home country or your own finances, your application to work with this supervisor will be considered.
